Terms of Use

Last updated: September 6th 2026

Acceptance

By using pkgbase.org (“the site”), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What the site is

pkgbase.org is a search tool over file-list metadata published in FreeBSD's own base-system package repositories. See the About page for what it does and doesn't do.

No affiliation

pkgbase.org is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the FreeBSD Project or the FreeBSD Foundation. “FreeBSD” is a registered trademark of the FreeBSD Foundation, referenced here descriptively only.

No warranty

The site and everything on it are provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Package boundaries, file lists, and version information are derived from third-party repositories and may be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Do not treat this site as your sole source of truth before making changes to a production system — always verify against pkg(8) itself.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, pkgbase.org and its operator are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site — including damages caused by inaccurate, missing, or outdated data.

Acceptable use

Please don't: attempt to bypass or defeat the site's bot/abuse protections; send automated requests at a rate that degrades the service for other users; or use the site's data to build a redistribution of FreeBSD package contents (this site links to, but never redistributes, package contents themselves).

Availability

The site may be unavailable at times for maintenance, upstream outages, or reasons outside our control. We don't guarantee any particular level of uptime.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
